本研究室主要以前瞻性研究及臨床試驗法，探討心臟血管代謝疾病之成因（遺傳及環境）；近年來以體學研究法（基因體、表現體、代謝體學）探討高血壓、肥胖、及代謝與發炎疾病之成因，並將成果運用在疾病風險評估，及藥物治療效果預測上。飲食資料極其複雜且相互相關，我們使用減維度的方法學找出各種飲食型態，探討其和疾病或臨床徵兆的關係。近來致力於設計涉及多種食物類的治療飲食並進行臨床試驗，如：設計並探討適合台灣人的降血壓、氣喘控制飲食。為找到控制發炎性疾病的最佳飲食，更致力於各種植物性食物的代謝體學和轉譯體學研究，擬將各種植物，就其代謝及發炎圖譜加以分類及運用在不同疾病之飲食設計上。
